Independent, not official
GiftGrows is not the Treasury, the IRS, or the Trump Accounts program, and we never hold gift money. GiftGrows is not part of, endorsed by, or affiliated with any government agency or payment provider.
No financial, tax, or legal advice
GiftGrows is a gift page, not a bank, broker, or adviser. For decisions about the account, taxes, or withdrawals, use the official sources or talk to a professional.
Program facts
Program facts on GiftGrows come from official Treasury and IRS sources, and each shows the date we last checked it. Rules can change after that date, so the official pages always win. The guide lists every source.
Calculator assumptions
The "how it could grow" figures on a gift page are illustrations, not forecasts or promises. Investments can lose value. The calculator assumes:
- A steady yearly return of 7% by default, which you can set from 0% to 10%. Real returns go up and down from year to year.
- Returns compound once a year, and each gift starts growing in the year it is given.
- Yearly gifts are made at the start of each year and stop after December 31 of the year the child turns 17. If the parent hides the child's age, a yearly gift is counted 10 times.
- A single gift or a yearly gift can't be more than the $5,000 yearly limit.
- "In today's dollars" removes 3% inflation a year.
- Fund fees (capped at 0.1% a year), taxes, and withdrawals are not subtracted.
