The short version
- GiftGrows never receives, holds, or forwards gift money, and never asks for bank or brokerage logins.
- Children don't have accounts. A parent or guardian makes the page and decides what it shows.
- Givers don't need an account. We count clicks as daily totals, with no IP address or browser details stored.
- We don't sell data, show ads, or use third-party trackers.
Parent accounts
You sign in with your email address. We email you a one-time sign-in link that works for 15 minutes, so there is no password to store. A session cookie keeps you signed in on that device.
If you connect a chat app such as ChatGPT or Claude, you approve which permissions it gets. It can only reach your own pages, and you can disconnect it at any time from My pages.
What a gift page holds
The child's first name is the only required detail. A last name, a line naming the parent, the child's age, and one photo are optional, and each starts hidden until you turn it on.
If you add a photo, you choose how it appears: as it is, with faces blurred on your own device before upload, or replaced by a faceless image or illustration. Photos stay out of link previews and search results unless you turn those on.
We never ask for the child's school, street address, or location.
Who can see a page
Each page has four reach levels, and you confirm each step on its own: private preview, a long link only people you send it to can open, a short address like giftgrows.com/@vera that search engines are told not to index, and findable, which lets search engines list it.
Guessing an address reveals nothing about a page that is private or link-only. Making a new link turns off the old link, its photo addresses, and its QR code at once.
Giving details you choose to show
A page can show the official contribution link for the child's account, and your own payment handles (for example Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, or Wise) with a memo. GiftGrows only displays these. The payment itself happens on the official site or in the payment app, never through us.
Journal and giver notes
A giver can leave a note with a name, a message, and an optional amount. Notes appear on the page only after you approve them. You can also add entries yourself. Amounts are whatever the giver or parent typed; we don't check them.
Journal entries stay until you delete them or delete the page.
Counting visits and clicks
When someone taps a give button, we add one to a daily total for that page and that giving method. Landing page and guide views are daily totals per page too. We store the day and the count only: no IP address, no user agent, no visitor ID, and no analytics cookie.
To leave bots and link previews out of the totals, we read the browser's user agent at the moment of the request and then discard it. Our hosting provider keeps standard request logs for security and operations.
Emails we send
All email comes from noreply@giftgrows.com through Amazon Simple Email Service (SES). We send:
- Sign-in links, when you ask for one.
- A waitlist confirmation. You are on the list only after you open that link, which works for 7 days.
- Setup reminders, while you are still opening the child's account: up to 4, on days 1, 3, 7, and 14 after you start. They stop when you add the contribution link, and every reminder has a one-click unsubscribe.
- One "the link is ready" email to a giver who asked to be notified.
Waitlist and notify lists
The waitlist keeps your email address and two optional answers: whether your child was born in the pilot years and whether the account is already open. We use them to invite families in order and to plan the product.
If you say yes to the founding offer, we keep your email address, where you said it, the price we showed, and your easy address, so we can honor that price later. We collect no card or payment details. You can take your name off on My pages.
When a page isn't ready yet, a giver can leave an email address to hear when it is. We email that address once and then delete it. An address that never gets the email is deleted after 90 days, and each page keeps at most 200 addresses.
Where data lives and who sees it
GiftGrows runs on Amazon Web Services in the United States (us-east-1): the website on AWS Amplify, the database on Amazon Aurora, and email on Amazon SES. AWS processes this data for us and for no other purpose.
We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share it with advertisers. A chat app sees your page data only after you connect it.
Children
GiftGrows is for parents, guardians, and the adults who give. Children can't make accounts, and we don't knowingly collect information from children. When you make a page, you confirm you are the child's parent or legal guardian. The details on a child's page are ones a parent chose to add.
Deleting your data
Deleting a page removes its details, photo, message, payment handles, journal, notify list, and its daily counts.
“Delete my account” on My pages deletes everything at once: every page as above, the stored photos, your connected chat apps, your sign-in records, any waitlist entry, and any founding-offer yes. A short address stays reserved for 30 days afterwards, linked to no one, so nobody else can take it while old links and flyers are around. Database backups that still hold a copy roll off within 7 days.
To leave the waitlist without an account, ask us and we will remove it. Setup reminders stop from the link in any reminder, and notify addresses delete themselves as described above.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will say so on this page and email parents with an account before the change takes effect.
A contact address for privacy and deletion requests will be listed here before public launch.
